In the First Laps of the Race Ian Scheckter and the South African Rally Champion Hannes Gobler tangeld in the Left hand kink before the Start/Finish Line, crashed and veered to the right and hit the pitlane entrance Guardrail.Both where Catapulted into the Pitlane.A Photographer that stands direct behind the Pitwall was decapitated.Many Mechanics and Spectators where Injured in this absolutley Horrific Crash and one of them died later in the Hospital.Gobler and Scheckter walked away unhurt from this Accident but Scheckter retired from Racing after this Crash.
