UP GP38-2 #396 on the Jefferson/Ft. Atkinson Local 6/6/2008

Length: 3:60
Description: I usually like to upload train videos in chronological order, but I'm putting this one up first just for Trainmasterkreks. Here is a train seldom documented by railfans, Union Pacific's local LTN-18 from Clyman Junction to Jefferson and Fort Atkinson. This short, weekday-only local is the sum total of train traffic on the former Chicago & Northwestern Janesville-Fond du Lac passenger main. First we see him in Watertown crossing the diamond with the busy Canadian Pacific Watertown Subdivision. Just a few days later, record flooding would put both lines temporarily out of service. Then the train crosses the West Street and Pearl/Milford Street grade crossings. Not sure why he stopped and flagged since the crossing signals appear to be working fine. Lastly we see him making track speed through the small town of Johnson Creek, after leaving off his two covered hoppers for a customer. The water pooled by the tracks is a harbinger of things to come... Video by my dad 6/6/2008.
