Success! Looks like everything works fine after rebuilding the transaxle on this ol' Weed Eater. We replaced the damaged 5-speed gear set with a 6-speed gear set. Now it can finally eat weeds again. Video of the rebuild is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucbJ3Y-q1_c
