I restored this AmphiCar from a pile of rust. Took three years. Almost sunk it a few times. Can't tow waterskiers and I have to register it twice: as a car *and* a boat. Turns heads.

A few weeks back my bro and I saw this Amphicar at Lake Isabella near Bakersfield in Southern California, durring a day of jet skiing. It gave us a really good laugh. Enjoy this piece of automotive history.

This video was taken on or about July 28th 2007 at the annual Celina, Ohio Lake Festival. Featured are the approximately 40 something Amphicars that made it to Ohio. Out of about 500 cars left in the world, this means that 9% of the world's Amphicars showed up for this yearly event. Fun stuff indeed!

Every year the annual Sunnyland ACBS Antique & Classic Wood Boat show features a group of Amphicars who participate in a parade and a "splashin" where they race down the boat ramp and into the lake to demostrate their amphibious capabilities. This is the parade.

The Amphicar was built in Germany from 1961 to 1968. Total production was 3,878 vehicles. The Amphicar is the only civilian amphibious passenger automobile ever to be mass produced. 3,046 Amphicars were imported into the United States between 1961 and 1967.
